Since I last posted, I’ve walked through a tough 必赢国际线上娱乐网址season of loss. I lost my father after a lengthy battle with cancer, my mother in a tragic car accident, and a dear friend all in the last seven months. These precious loved ones are now I am very grateful for that.
Tested by Fire
The ordeal surrounding my mother’s death was the most difficult trial my family had ever faced. We knew we were being tested by fire:
These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. (1 Peter 1:7, NLT)
Knowing with all assurance that my parents and my dear friend are with Jesus, gives me great comfort。 Through the losses, I’ve felt God’s grace and goodness wrapping around me in a gentle healing embrace, like a soft, warm blanket。
This has also been a season of letting go. Changes in my career, ministry path, church home, and in my family, are forcing me to open my hands to things I’ve held close for years. So much in my life is undergoing a shift all at once. And although it defies understanding, I have felt a surprising I expect that God is up to something good.
The craft of knitting has been especially therapeutic to me during this time. Knitting has become a companion activity in prayer as I seek God’s presence. In the future, I’ll be writing more about this. But today I’d just like to share one of the projects I created during this painful, although often beautiful, process of to treasured loved ones.
Oh, and if you’re a knitter, please connect with .
